IGas Energy PLC (LON: IGAS) announced the appointment of Chris Hopkinson to its Board as Independent Non-Executive Director with immediate effect. Chris would take over the role of Non-Executive Chairman from Cuth McDowell who has notified the Board of his intention to step down from the Board later this year. “I am delighted to welcome Chris to the Board. Chris has a tremendous amount of highly relevant experience and I am in no doubt that he will make a strong contribution to IGas as we move forward,” said Interim Board Chairman, Cuth McDowell. Chris will also join the audit, nominations, and remuneration committees.
About Chris Hopkinson
Chris Hopkinson is currently the Non-executive Chairman of Enwell Energy an AIM-quoted oil and gas exploration and production group and founder of Astra Resources Management advising utility-scale PPP Solar projects. Chris Hopkinson began his career with Shell International, followed by technical and management roles with Yukos and Lukoil Overseas, before becoming CEO of Imperial Energy Group up until its acquisition by ONGC in 2009. He was then Vice-President Western Siberia for TNK-BP, Senior Vice-President North Africa for BG Group, CEO of International Petroleum Limited, and COO for JSC National Company KazMunayGas. Chris Hopkinson said: “I am excited to be joining IGas and helping to support the team in driving the business forward to create future shareholder value through its existing cash-generative assets and its bold energy transition strategy.” Chris holds a BSc Honours degree in Applied Physics from St Andrews University.

Kate brings Board-level expertise drawing on over 20 years advising energy companies on M&A and strategy.” said Interim Non-executive Chairman Cuth McDowell. Kate will also join the audit and remuneration committees.
About Kate Coppinger
Kate Coppinger is currently Non-executive Director at Serica Energy plc, an AIM-listed, independent UK natural gas producer. Kate initially worked for CIBC World Markets as a research analyst before joining Harrison Lovegrove in 2000 where she moved into transaction execution. Following the acquisition of Harrison Lovegrove by Standard Chartered Bank in September 2007, Kate continued in oil and gas M&A transactions. In 2014, she was appointed Managing Director, Oil & Gas Corporate Finance, where she was responsible for origination and execution of transactions for European clients, a position she held until leaving Standard Chartered Bank in 2020. Kate Coppinger commented: “As the E&P industry enters a new phase, I am impressed by the strategic steps IGas has already taken to diversify into low-carbon technologies leveraging its existing skillsets, infrastructure, and assets, whilst continuing to safely and responsibly deliver indigenous supply of oil and gas.”
