Kirsten Schachter brings over two decades of leadership and fundraising experience to AIEN, along with a global perspective and deep community roots. Born in Australia and raised across four continents, Kirsten embodies the spirit of a true Third-Culture Kid. Her upbringing as a Hong Kong expat instilled in her a passion for international travel and a lifelong dedication to building meaningful relationships across cultures and geographies.
Kirsten’s connection to AIEN runs deeper than it may first appear. Upon her family’s relocation to the United States, they were warmly welcomed by then-AIPN President John Elliott and his wife, Jenni—an old family friend from Australia. That early encounter helped shape Kirsten’s appreciation for the power of professional and personal networks, something she brings to her new leadership role at AIEN.
Now a proud Texan, Kirsten is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and a long-time Houston resident. She has built and supported communities across the city through her fundraising and leadership work with the city’s finest institutions, including Houston Grand Opera, Awty International School, and Baylor College of Medicine. Kirsten’s proven track record in both consulting and in-house leadership roles includes leading high-performing teams and achieving multimillion-dollar fundraising goals, often in close collaboration with boards and executive stakeholders.
